Jonathan Franzen taping a segment with Oprah for Dec. 6 telecast.

Novelist Jonathan Franzen, who somewhat notoriously dissed an Oprah blessing on his last novel, "The Corrections," taped a show with her on Nov. 19 to talk about his new novel, "Freedom."

The show, which reportedly includes multiple hugs, is due to air on Dec. 6.

Franzen told the Star Tribune earlier that he would welcome having Oprah name "Freedom" to her book club. She did so in September. Franzen appeared in the Twin Cities Sept. 21 as part of the Talking Volumes series.

Jeff Seroy of Farrar Straus and Giroux, which published "Freedom," told the New York Times that the taping includes an interview with Franzen about his writing process, questions from the audience and a conversation in which he and Oprhah talk about things they have in common.
