Twin Cities-based Oppidan Investment Co. is expanding its portfolio of senior housing projects, said Shannon Rusk, Oppidan’s vice president of development and brokerage services.

“There is certainly a need for senior living facilities, and we acknowledged that at Oppidan by increasing our focus on development of this product type,” she said.

Last week, the company acquired a pair of senior buildings in the Highland Park neighborhood in St. Paul, including the Highlands on Graham, a 72-unit independent living community and the Highlands at River Road, a 69-unit assisted living and memory care community that opened last September. Oppidan plans to rebrand those buildings as the Highlands of St. Paul.
