Hip-hop all-stars
The Cowles Center shines a much-deserved spotlight on local artists working specifically in hip-hop dance. “Mixtape” showcases seven Twin Cities choreographer/ dancers representing styles including urban, house, street dancing and more. Jason (J-Sun) Noer will use new jack swing, rocking and breaking to explore gender and sexism, and do a dance battle with Ozzy Dris. They’ll be joined by Herb Johnson III, the twin-sister masterminds behind Al Taw’am, Magnolia Yang Sao Yia and Darrius Strong with his STRONGmovement company. (7:30 p.m. Fri. & Sat., 2 p.m. Sun., Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., $22-$25, 612-206-3600, thecowles center.org.)
