Online price proved to be sleight of hand

From my colleague Lora Pabst:

An Apple Valley man had his eye on a $399.99 tool set, but he was waiting for a better deal. When the price dropped to $199.99 on a major retailer's website, he snapped it up.

But once the tools were in his online shopping cart, the price was suddenly listed at $349.99. He asked a company representative about the drastic price change and was told that the prices were subject to deadlines. He would have to pay the price in the cart.

"I can only speak from my personal retail experience, but if we incorrectly priced an item, or accidentally left a sale price on a shelf, we always honored that price," he wrote to Whistleblower.
