One person was killed Thursday morning in a four-vehicle crash on Hwy. 62 on the border between Minneapolis and Richfield, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened just after 10 a.m. when a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox traveling east on Hwy. 62 near the Portland Avenue exit was rear-ended by a 2009 Honda Civic. As the Equinox was pulling over to the highway's shoulder, the Honda, which was stopped on the highway, was rear-ended by a 2014 Ford F150 pickup. While trying to move out of the pickup's path, the Equinox struck a 2014 Kia Optima, the patrol said.
The Honda Civic's driver, a 23-year-old woman from Mendota Heights, was killed. Her name has not been released.
The driver of the Ford pickup, Darrin D. Gregory, 29, of Minneapolis, was taken to HCMC with noncritical injuries, the patrol said. The driver of the Chevy Equinox, Randall D. Isaak, 62, of New Hope, and the driver of the Kia Optima, Benjamin M. Haberman, 32, of Coon Rapids, were not injured.
