One drowns in Sherburne County lake

August 15, 2015 at 11:55PM

A male died in an apparent drowning at Lakeside Park Beach in the city of Big Lake on Friday afternoon, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

A boater in Lake Mitchell found the victim floating unresponsive around 4:30 p.m. and called police. Emergency workers brought the victim to Lakeside Park Beach, where resuscitation efforts failed.

Police would not confirm whether the victim was an adult or provide more details Saturday.

It remains unclear whether the victim was swimming near Lakeside Beach Park, which is not manned by lifeguards. In June, a 47-year-old New London man drowned there.
