One man was killed and another injured Saturday night in a shooting outside a Merwin Liquors at the northwest corner of Larpenteur Avenue and Rice Street in Maplewood.

According to Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell, the two victims exchanged words with someone in a late model Honda in the parking lot near the front door of the liquor store, then went inside. When they came back out, shots were fired from the car, Schnell said.

Both men were taken to Regions Hospital, where one died. The other suffered multiple leg wounds but is expected to survive, Schnell said.

Police are checking videos to see if they can get a better identification of the person or people in the car. They are looking for a mid-2000s white Honda Accord, which fled north on Rice Street after the shooting.

Police were searching the parking lot for shell casings.
