One dead, another seriously injured in Hwy. 23 crash with dump truck

A 23-year-old Isle, Minn., man was killed and his passenger seriously injured after rear ending a dump truck on Hwy. 23 in Stearns County on Monday evening, police said.

The crash occurred around 5:40 p.m. near County Rd. 12 as both the sedan and dump truck were traveling east on Hwy. 23. The truck stopped, preparing to turn north on County Road 12, when the car crashed into it from behind.

The driver, Jared M. Haglund, died at the scene. His passenger, Logan Hebeisen, 21, of Isle, was transported to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The 41-year-old dump truck driver was uninjured.

Haglund was a 2011 graduate from Isle High School, where he played varsity basketball. He had been working as a laborer at PCi Roads LLC in St. Michael for the last four years, according to his Facebook page.
