On the red carpet: The whites, a few bolds and the what?

Many of the stars who walked down the red, ahem champagne carpet, favored muted colors, diamonds, trains and simplicity. But then there also was some striking hues and a lot of skin.

Mindy Kaling played peekaboo in her Vera Wang that had a structured peplum ruffle on the hip. The attached sleeve added a modern look.
Sofia Carson channeled Audrey Hepburn in her Giambattista Valli gown, looking effortlessly sophisticated. Her only accessory was the jaw-dropping emerald and diamond necklace.
Ariana DeBose shed her vibrant colors and instead came in a plunging thigh-split micro-pleated Versace with sheer sleeves that shoulder pads.
Eva Longoria called herself a disco ball, saying that she was all sparkly. And she was in her Zuhair Murad gown, earrings and even her nails.
Michelle Yeoh arrived, saying she was in a cloud of happiness, in a white, fringed Dior accented with diamonds.
Harry Shum Jr. brought East and West together in his white lapel Adeam jacket. The asymmetrical tux was accented with a navy blue wrap belt and bow tie.
Jamie Lee Curtis’ sequined Dolce Gabbana champagne dress complemented her silver ‘do flawlessly.
Wearing a strapless pink Valentino gown, Stephanie Hsu went for couture and comfort at the same time. She accessorized her dress with silver drop earrings and a matching bracelet.
The next “Little Mermaid” Halle Bailey looked every bit a princess in her sheer Dolce Gabbana gown. A simple diamond necklace and earrings were the icing on the cake.
Hong Chu was pretty in baby pink Prada. The satin gown was accented with a mandarin collar and a feathery black train.
Sandra Oh was a ray of sunshine in her backless orange Giambattista Valli gown. The big pendant on her necklace and her scarlet lips added to the sophisticated look.
Kerry Condon’s yellow strapless Atelier Versace gown screamed sunshine and came with a fitted bodice and a train.
Gorgeous in a royal purple Jeremy Scott gown, Angela Bassett said she was bringing royalty and spring to the carpet. Her diamond necklace was just as striking.
Cara Delevingne was red hot in her one-shoulder Elie Saab gown. The thigh-high slit in her skirt showed off her matching platform heels.
Cate Blanchett paired a silk teal top with a sleek navy skirt with a train. The Louis Vuitton gown was just outright regal. She accessorized it with diamond braided drop earrings.
It was as if liquid black had been poured onto Elizabeth Olsen, who kept it simple but striking in a Givenchy gown.
In a sheer long-sleeved Versace gown with a diamond collar, Lady Gaga looked fabulously elegant. The only other accessories were her scarlet lip and signature thick eyeliner.
Harvey Guillen came swishing in a Christian Siriano suit with an attached train.
Florence Pugh came with a statement — hot pants and giant ruffles. She said she was bringing a bit of punk and, well, she did. A billowing train and black platform heels rounded out the look.
