Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota promoted Ken Borle to executive vice president for operations for St. Paul-based Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. He had been LSS' chief financial officer since 2005. The St. Paul-based organization also promoted Jeri Schoonover to chief service officer. She has been the human service organization's vice president of community services since 2004.

Mohagen/Hansen Architectural Group, Wayzata, hired Stan Schimke as a director of health care. Earlier, he had worked on both local and national health care design projects at firms such as BWBR, Jordan Architects and HDR.

Madden's on Gull Lake, a Brainerd resort, hired Patrick Kincade as a Minneapolis-based sales manager. He had worked as public relations manager for DoBizBuzz: the Furnishing Network, a website design company in Minneapolis, and had interned at Madden's.

John Szymanski was hired as Madden's operations director. He spent 15 years with ClubCorp Inc., an owner and operator of private dining and country clubs. He also worked with Oceanaire Inc. and as general manager of the Guthrie Theater's food and beverage service.

Carmichael Lynch Spong, Minneapolis, hired Whitney McChane, Eric Sveum and Danielle Schumann. McChane joined the agency as a senior counselor. Previously she was at Padilla Speer Beardsley. Sveum joined the agency as a senior associate; he had been an assistant account executive at MSLGROUP in New York. Schumann was hired as a senior associate. She had been public relations coordinator for the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul.

Maguire Agency, Roseville, an independent insurance agency offering property/casualty, employee benefits and personal insurance, hired Genevieve Frazier as a producer for its commercial insurance lines. Earlier, Frazier had worked for Federated Insurance in Davenport, Iowa.

Loffler Companies, Bloomington, hired Ralph Awad as director of IT service operations. For the last 10 years, Awad has been director of Data Center Services and managed Hosting Solutions at VISI (a subsidiary of TDS).

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation, Minneapolis, announced that the Native American Somali Peacemakers of the Family Partnership has won the $100,000 grant through the Connect for Health Challenge. Minnesotans voted and selected the project as the winner out of nearly 400 applicants.
