"The Wiz" Director Dominic Taylor is not a DJ, but some people may think of him that way after what he has done to "The Wiz." Taylor has remixed what was already a black adaptation of L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz." His "Wiz" is set on a college campus where Dorothy (Ivory Doublette) is trying to find her way home.
Taylor is not only blind to color in his casting, but also to gender. The Wizard is played by Sabrina Crews while Lynn Suemitsu plays the Tin Man. A male actor, Michael Zimmerman, plays wicked witch Evillene. Taylor eases on down the road with an artistic team that includes music director Sanford Moore and choreographer Uri Sands.
