The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office on Thursday released the names of two pedestrians struck and killed in separate motor vehicle crashes in the Twin Cities metro area this week.

In the first crash, 64-year-old Mai Thi Dang was killed when she was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of McAndrews Road and Echo Park Lane, about a block from her Burnsville home. An autopsy revealed that she died of multiple blunt force injuries after being hit.

Local police are still investigating the incident, which happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The following day, Kirk Almendinger, of Forest Lake, was killed about 8:21 p.m. when he was run over in the 2500 block of Long Lake Road in Roseville.

Authorities say that Almendinger, 60, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died of complications from injuries sustained in the crash, which remains under investigation.
