A Centennial Lakes police officer fired a single shot, but it didn't hit anyone, while trying to talk down a Blaine man threatening to slit the throats of people in his home, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. The 67-year-old suspect was also brandishing what turned out to be a BB gun.
Around 7 p.m. Sunday, a 911 caller reported that a man who lived at a mobile home park was threatening others with a butcher knife and carrying a gun. The officers arrived first and confronted the man, "who was still brandishing the handgun and not compliant, and a single shot was fired," according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
The officers eventually subdued him with a Taser. The man has been arrested but not yet charged with a crime.
