There's a very important lesson you learn on your first day of broadcasting school: cameras and microphones are always on. Even if you think they're not. Like guns, treat them as if they're loaded. If you're going to flip the bird to your co-workers, don't do it in the studio.
However, if the cameras capture you flipping off the anchorman, do your best to convert the gesture into a spasmodic hand-flutter that makes it look as if your finger has gone to war with your nose.
