Mary Gagne, the wife of one of Minnesota's legendary professional wrestlers, died Tuesday of complications from colon cancer surgery. She was 75.
Her family had gathered at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park and was with her when she died.
She was a flight attendant and clothing model in Twin Cities stores but would become a great fan of pro wrestling.
Verne, her husband of nearly 56 years, spent 32 years on the pro wrestling circuit. Her son, Greg, followed in his footsteps with a 17-year career.
"I'd come back hurt, with bandages on, that sort of thing," Verne said. "She got used to it after a while. She was a wonderful mother, great homemaker and wonderful companion."
Other survivors include daughters Donna of Eden Prairie, Beth of Chaska and Kathleen of Atlanta; brother Robert Marxen of Arkansas, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. at the church.
