WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala (o-YAH-nta ooh-MA-la) discussed during an Oval Office visit how to strengthen the relationship between their two countries.
Humala's visit to the White House Tuesday was his first official trip to the United States since his election in 2011. The two presidents told reporters invited in at the end of their meeting that they discussed economic growth, trade and their fight against drug trafficking.
Humala's three-day visit also includes meetings with Vice President Joe Biden, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a speech to business leaders at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He also planned a stop in Boston to sign cooperation agreements with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
