An Oakdale teenager implicated in a plot to rob and possibly kill his father pleaded guilty on Monday to felony first-degree assault in Washington County District Court.

Daniel Paul Meggitt, now 18, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the plot to kill Terry Meggitt last August. He was 17 when the crime occurred.

His accomplice, Anthony Joseph Nasseff, 18, pleaded guilty to a similar charge in March. He will be sentenced May 21.

The teenagers had planned to rob Terry Meggitt at his residence on Helena Avenue, steal two of his cars, and flee to North Dakota, according to court documents. Nasseff attacked him with a knife at the front door of his house, wounding him, while his son waited upstairs, according to the criminal complaint.

The teenagers had met in a juvenile detention facility, according to court records.

Although a juvenile when the crime happened, Daniel Meggitt was certified to appear in adult court. That means he'll go to prison instead of juvenile detention.

Prosecutor Heather Pipenhagen said she was pleased with the sentence.
