Nutmeg could be salmonella-spiced

Recall issued for Whole Foods Market and Frontier brands.

It's a big time of year for nutmeg, so all you eggnog and pumpkin pie fans take note.

Frontier Natural Products Co-op, which sells nutmeg under the Frontier and Whole Foods Market brands, is recalling its ground nutmeg because it has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. The affected Frontier-brand nutmeg is a 16-ounce package with the lot code 0306. The Whole Foods Market nutmeg is a 1.92-ounce glass bottle with the lot code 0321. No one has reported any salmonella poisoning from the nutmeg. The recall states that Whole Foods customers who find they have bought the affected product should contact their local store.
