NTSB: Pilot error causes Wis. plane crash that killed father, daughter from Illinois

BURLINGTON, Wis. — Pilot error caused a southeastern Wisconsin plane crash last November that killed a father and daughter from Illinois.

The National Transportation Safety Board report recently released points to pilot Todd Parfitt's lack of recent flight experience to explain the uncontrolled spin that led the single-engine plane to crash west of Burlington Municipal airport Nov. 18.

The 50-year-old Parfitt and his 14-year-old daughter Nicole Parfitt, both from Antioch, Ill., died.

According to the NTSB report, Parfitt's log book revealed the flight was his first since May 30 of last year.

The Journal Times reports (http://bit.ly/13Fr1Ig ) the NTSB finding is in line with a Federal Aviation Administration investigation, which listed pilot-induced error resulted in a loss of control, mismanaged controls and a spin.
