Authorities have identified a St. Michael, Minn., man and his 3-year-old daughter who were shot to death Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide.

They are Soukanh Thongratsamy, 42, and his daughter, Katelyn Thongratsamy, the Wright County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

They were found dead after authorities rushed into Thongratsamy's home about 5 p.m. Sunday, following a five-hour standoff.

Wright County deputies responded to a domestic dispute call Sunday afternoon at the home in the 3400 block of Kalenda Av. NE. It involved Thongratsamy and his ex-girlfriend, Kaycee Phommyvong, 25, of Brooklyn Center.

She moved out of the house two months ago and came to pick up their daughter after a weekend visit. They argued, authorities said, and Phommyvong was assaulted, choked and bound before escaping from a lower-level window. She called 911 from a neighbor's home.

Phommyvong remained in stable condition Monday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Meanwhile, family members gathered at her Brooklyn Center home Monday to figure out what led to Katelyn's death.

"We just feel sad right now, what else can we say," said Seng Chanh Phommyvong, Kaycee Phommyvong's uncle who drove overnight from Lexington, Neb. "We really don't know anything else right now."

Stacy Doyle, a Wright County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said Monday that authorities had not been called to the home before. The case remains under investigation.

Doyle, who also serves as a victim assistance coordinator for the Sheriff's Office, said that it was the second murder-suicide in St.
Michael in a little more than four years.

In March 2000, Brian Jaspers, 23, shot and killed his wife, Dena, 24, and their 9-month-old son, Joshua, before killing himself.
