Kids' Triathlon set for July 25
The second annual Blaine Kids Triathlon will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Lakeside Commons Park, 3020 Lake Pkwy., Blaine. The competition is for ages 7-14 and consists of a 100- or 165-yard swim; a 2.3-mile bike ride, and a 1-mile run. The fee is $30 for residents and $33 for nonresidents.

The Blaine Triathlon for adults will be held Sept. 12, also at Lakeside Commons Park. That event will include a 0.3-mile swim, a 16.7-mile bike ride and a 3.5-mile run. It was moved from May this year to give swimmers a shot at warmer water.

3 finalists named for city manager's job
After a nationwide search, the Brooklyn Park City Council has named three finalists for the position of city manager. The candidates are Anne Norris, currently Crystal's city manager; Michael Redlinger, Moorhead's city manager, and Jay Stroebel, deputy city coordinator in Minneapolis.
The three were chosen from a large pool of candidates.
Brooklyn Park runs under a city manager-council form of government, and the city manager is appointed by the Brooklyn Park City Council. The city manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the city and is equivalent to a company's chief executive.
Jamie Verbrugge was Brooklyn Park's last city manager. He left in February to become Bloomington's city manager.

Relay for Life event set for Friday
The Relay for Life of North Hennepin will be held from 4 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Brooklyn Center High School, 6500 Humboldt Av. N.
Relay for Life supports the American Cancer Society. Communities worldwide hold the events to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease and raise money for research.
Relay for Life teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path.
RAMSEY
Rhino to perform at The Draw park
The band Rhino will headline the next concert in The Draw 2015 Summer Event Series. Rhino will perform from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at The Draw park's amphitheater, 7401 E. Ramsey Pkwy.
Rhino is a top-40 hits dance party band.
Summer events take place every Thursday night from June to August. Events include music, comedians, live radio broadcasts and much more. Several events also feature free product giveaways from local companies.
Food and drinks are available for purchase during event, and a farmers market will be open adjacent to the amphitheater at every event, starting with this one, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Ramsey is now Heart Safe Community
The city of Ramsey has officially met all criteria to become a Minnesota Heart Safe Community.
An award presentation was held this week at the City Council meeting. The city was given a Heart Safe Community Certificate, an official Heart Safe-Ramsey logo and two Heart Safe road signs.
Heart Safe-Ramsey will continue to work of increasing survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest by educating the public in hands-only bystander CPR and proper use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED). The Heart Safe-Ramsey program has set a goal of training 1,400 citizens in bystander CPR and proper AED use; 572 residents have been trained so far.
Due to the high number of events Heart Safe-Ramsey is involved with this summer, the regularly scheduled monthly training sessions at the Ramsey Municipal Center have been canceled. However, training will still be held at various events. Triathlon to be held next month
Maple Grove's Life Time Fitness will host a triathlon Aug. 22.
To gear up athletes, the gym is offering a free clinic before the race, open to anyone interested in learning more about doing a triathlon. It will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Life Time Fitness, 12601 82nd Av. N., in Maple Grove.
