Castle-cam lets you see progress on fieldA Castle Field webcam is providing fresh images every 30 seconds of the site where the new Castle Field ballpark is being built. The new baseball field near Anoka High School is scheduled to open on a limited basis next spring and be ready for an official opening in April 2014.

'Concert in the Park' season closes SundayThe Legendary Percolators Live Band will play at 7 p.m. Sunday at George Green Park, 1498 Sixth Av. in Anoka. It's the 12th and final performance scheduled for this summer's "Concert in the Park" series. The Percolators play '60s rock, country music, blues, R&B, ballads and more, according to the city's biography of the 20-year-old band. The concert is weather-permitting.

Open house set for University Av. projectAnoka County engineers and planners will be on hand to answer questions, provide information and hear comments about the 2014 reconstruction project on University Avenue, running from Northdale Boulevard to Main Street. The open house will be 4:30-6:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Blaine City Hall, 10801 Town Square Dr. NE.

Police Academy begins next monthThe Crystal and New Hope police departments will be offering their annual Citizens Police Academy on six Thursdays in September and October. The academy is for adults who live or work within the Crystal or New Hope city limits.
Among the topics to be covered are patrol tactics, investigations, narcotics, crime scene processing, juvenile crime, gangs, use of force, canine demonstrations and crime prevention strategies.
