A house caught fire in north Minneapolis, and one of its occupants suffered critical injuries, authorities said.

The blaze broke out about 1 p.m. Tuesday in an upper-level bedroom of the single-family home in the 3600 block of Dupont Avenue, according to fire officials.

One resident got out without assistance, but a male inside was rescued from the second floor by firefighters, said Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner.

Paramedics and firefighters performed resuscitation efforts on the victim, who was then hospitalized at Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition, Tyner said. The victim's identity has yet to be disclosed.

The flames were extinguished within 15 minutes, and the blaze was largely contained to the room where it originated.

Fire officials have yet to address a cause for the fire.
