A woman was found dead in a vehicle located in a burning residential garage in north Minneapolis, authorities said Sunday.

"The death was not a result of the fire, and foul play [in the death] is not ... suspected," Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner said in a statement.

The blaze in the attached garage broke out about 9:50 p.m. Saturday at a residence in the 1200 block of Newton Avenue N., Tyner said.

Fire crews arrived to find the garage fully engulfed flames, he said. The fire reached the home's attic before it was brought under control, the assistant chief added.

The woman's identity has yet to be disclosed, and the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.
