Lyric Arts presents 'Glass Menagerie'
Lyric Arts Company of Anoka will begin its 2014-15 season Sept. 5 with "The Glass Menagerie," the play that catapulted playwright Tennessee Williams to fame.
Performances will run Sept. 5 to 21 at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage, 420 E. Main St. Shows will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays. A sign-language-interpreted performance will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7

Dinner to raise money for library
The Columbia Heights Library Foundation will host its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser to raise money for a new library from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE., Columbia Heights. Tickets are $8 for adults (age 13 and up), and $5 for children 5-12. In addition to spaghetti and ice cream, there will be a silent auction.

Prostate support group meets Aug. 27
A prostate cancer support group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at North Memorial Medical Center, 3300 Oakdale Av. N, Robbinsdale. Technical illustrator John Tiesberg will present his animated depiction of the structure and function of the prostate gland. A question-and-answer segment will follow. 2 events will help bring back prairie
Interested in helping restore the native prairie?
Join other volunteers from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove or during the same time period Saturday, Sept. 6, at Crow-Hassan Park Reserve in Rogers. Volunteers will help park staffers collect wildflower seed for prairie restoration. Training and collection bags will be provided.
