Forum to demystify standardized testing Robbinsdale schools will hold a public forum aimed at unraveling the tangled world of school testing.

The forum -- called "Exposing Standardized Testing Myths" -- will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 31 at the Rockford Road Library, 6401 42nd Av. N., Crystal. It is the second in a series of forums hosted by the district's Legislative Action Coalition. Topics to be discussed at the forum include Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments, the federal No Child Left Behind law and adequate yearly progress.

The Legislative Action Coalition was established by the Robbinsdale school board to serve as an advocate for the district and its families.

Recruiting begins for Admission Possible Admission Possible, a Twin Cities nonprofit agency that runs a two-year program that helps low-income high school students prepare for college, kicked off its annual recruitment drive this month.

Admission Possible students are assigned to a college coach and commit to attend two after-school sessions a week during their junior and senior year. The program provides free ACT and SAT preparation, visits to college campuses, guidance in preparing college admissions applications, help obtaining financial aid, and tips to help students prepare for the transition from high school to college.

Interested students whose family incomes are at or below the median for their city of residence should contact Admission Possible representatives in 19 partner schools in the Anoka-Hennepin, Columbia Heights, Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, St. Louis Park and St. Paul school districts and Community of Peace Academy and Ubah Medical Academy charter schools.
