'Viva City' art show features Latin strings The Minneapolis public schools will host its annual "Viva City" performing arts exhibition at 6 p.m. on March 9 at Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis.
Viva City events feature student artwork and musical performances by middle and high school students from throughout the Minneapolis School District.
This year's performing arts exhibition features a Latin string orchestra. The opening acts perform at 6 p.m. in the lobby, and the main concert begins at 7 p.m. in the main hall.

Kindergarten event| has info, registration The Robbinsdale School District will host kindergarten information and registration events from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 5 at Forest, Lakeview, Meadow Lake, Neill, Noble, Northport, Sonnesyn and Zachary Lane elementary schools.
Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School's kindergarten information night begins at 5:45 p.m. and is limited to students and families who have been accepted into the program. The school is at 3730 Toledo Av. N., Robbinsdale. Go to www.rdale.org or call 763-504-8000 for the address of your local school.
Parents and students will have the opportunity to tour the school, meet the principal, kindergarten teachers and other staff members, and learn what their child can expect during a typical kindergarten day. Prospective students can spend time in a kindergarten classroom, and some schools will offer brief bus rides.
Children who turn age 5 by Sept. 1, 2009, are eligible to start kindergarten in the fall. Parents and guardians can request a kindergarten brochure at their local school or call 763-504-8000 to have one mailed to their home. It includes information about registration, early childhood screening, immunizations and full-day kindergarten options.
