As the melodrama of Michael Steele's rocky tenure as chairman of the Republican National Committee continues to unfold, attention has turned to a possible successor. And one handicapper has put former Sen. Norm Coleman on the list.
The Washington Post's influential political blog, The Fix, reported this week that while Steele is likely to hold onto his job, it's an open question who might succeed him next year if he opts out of a second term. Coleman is one of a half-dozen prominent GOPers mentioned.
