Hey, look, a new blog front. I like it.
By the way, how funny will it be tonight if instead of players after the game, the quotes in the game story are from the dads? So, if Koivu scores, Jukka's quoted. If Tom Richards feels like blasting the team, be my guest. First quote, as usual, will have to be Eric Belanger's dad. If Tim Clutterbuck wants to rip into the refs or divulge which Blackhawks he was trash-talking from the stands, do it.
If Boogaard snaps his almost four-year goal drought, Len Boogaard's quoted. Speaking of Len Boogaard, he gave me a phenomenal quote regarding his son's, let's call it, scoring prowess this morning. That'll be in tomorrow's story.
By the way, Boogaard -- Derek, that is -- asked me what the all-time goalless drought record is in the NHL. I told him I thought it was David Hale at about 250, "so you won't break it this year."
Boogaard sniped back, laughing, "Geez, thanks for the confidence!"
Who knew I had such guts, eh?
Well, guess what, I just looked it up, and if it is indeed Hale, Boogaard could break it this year because Hale's drought was actually 230 games. Boogaard's at 196 games, but in actual real time, he's got to have the record, because his last goal was Jan. 7, 2006, or 1,460 days ago. The Wild since has played 327 games, but Boogaard missed a bunch of games with injuries or scratches.
Owen Nolan is a gametime decision tonight. He's got some sort of leg injury because he's limping visibly. He didn't skate this morning, didn't practice Sunday or Monday and hasn't been on the ice since Saturday's NJ game. So I'd say he's questionable to say the least.
