No to burning prayer books

Regarding the 911 book burning incitement

September 9, 2010 at 12:07AM

Though Islamic extremists are responsible for 911 as well as innumerable inhumane, anti-western and anti-American actions, as Americans, we must recognize that there is a stark difference between the murderous actions of Islamofascist extremists and the far greater numbers of honorable people who worship the Islamic faith. We must not lower ourselves to a level that Islamic extremism represents, though insult to the religious faith of Islam. That is not the American way, we are better than that. Though currently there exists an international chorus of silence from Islamic leadership to innumerable worldwide murderous terrorist actions and incitement. We must recognize that all Islamics are not responsible for the actions of these extremist groups from among them. Burning a prayer book, only diminishes our own hard won religious freedoms. If we want to preach American democracy, as a beacon to the world we must act accordingly. There is a price for honor. That being, to be honorable. We are responsible, however, when we do not act to defend American morality and Americas future against extremists actions and extremist ideology. When we ignore this, and fail to act promptly, we are equally guilty of the consequences of our inactions. The actions of a bully, if not confronted, will only grow more forceful.
