No need to wait until March for flannel sheet sales

Sure, you could wait until St. Patty's Day to find a clearance price on flannel sheets, but even in this deep freeze, they're on sale everywhere.

I can't believe I waited until I was well into adulthood before I switched to flannel sheets in the winter. No more cold shock when I hop into bed on a winter night. And now is a great time to find them cheap. It's not uncommon to be able to find a queen set for $60 or less. Overstock has a great queen set for $60. Kohl's has a queen set for $48, regularly $150. (Since when does Kohl's have bedding that expensive? I'll bet no none paid $150).

If you think a flannel set is going to be too hot, consider buying only a flat or fitted flannel sheet and pair it with a regular sheet. Lands' End sells flannel fitted and flat separately and if you find they're too hot, you can return them even after washing. Here's a winter tip: Use a fitted flannel sheet and then try a cotton/bamboo flat sheet. Bamboo blended sheets (at least the ones I've purchased) have a wonderful ability to feel warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The ones I purchased at Target two years ago have worn like iron.

If you've seen some good markdowns locally on flannel sheets, let us know. Or a better deal online too.
