The main, and for that matter only, storm this weekend is the one that willcome into the Southwestern part of the country. The disturbance will spreadrain into Southern California Saturday afternoon and night, then work towardthe Four Corners region Sunday. Localized downpours are possible in SouthernCalifornia and Arizona, along with brief rattles of thunder. The higher elevations (6,000 feet and up) can expect several inches of snowfrom the storm. Be prepared for slow travel through the mountain passes of theSouthwest during the second half of the weekend.

In stark contrast is the nice weather that will be occurring in the East thisweekend. From New York to Georgia, each day will start out chilly, but themidday and afternoon hours will mellow out pretty nicely.

Currently, a split flow dominates the weather across North America. Thenorthern branch of the jet stream is preventing any real cold air from spillingsouthward into the United States, and this condition shouldn't change much intonext week.
