No. 2-ranked Washburn girls edge Southwest in soccer

Class 2A, No. 2 Washburn held off a second-half rally by host Southwest for a 2-1 victory in Minneapolis City Conference girls' soccer on Tuesday.

Lydia Ruppert of the Millers scored less than one minute into the game. Hannah Heinemann added a goal to give Washburn a 2-0 lead at halftime.l

Lola Baldwin scored in the second half to cut the Lakers deficit in half, but the Lakers could not get the equalizer.

Blake 5, Breck 0: Bailey Abraham scored two goals to lead the Class 1A, No. 1 Bears past the visiting No. 13 Mustangs. Cate Moe had a goal and an assist and Sara McClanahan and Kiera Reese also scored goals for the Bears.

Minnetonka 1, Eden Prairie 0: Emily Graupmann stopped nine shots to lift the Class 2A, No. 7 Skippers past the visiting Eagles. Riley Brackin scored for the Skippers in the first half.

Centennial 4, Champlin Park 0: Claire Orth had a goal and three assists to lead the Class 2A, No. 6 Cougars past the visiting Rebels. Megan Shock, Hannah Bombeck and Olivia Lovick also scored for the Cougars.

Visitation 2, Henry Sibley 1: Katherine Jones scored two second-half goals to lift the Blazers past the visiting Warriors. Samantha Burke stopped nine shots for Visitation. Hope Korte scored for the Warriors.

Boys' soccer

Minneapolis Washburn 1, Minneapolis Southwest 0: Oscar Shulman scored 25 minutes into the contest to give the Class 2A, No. 4 Millers the victory over the host Lakers.

Minnetonka 1, Eden Prairie 0: Luca Vereecken stopped seven shots to preserve the victory for the Class 2A, No. 7 Skippers over the No. 8 Eagles. Sergio Rivas scored for the Skippers in the first half.

White Bear Lake 4, Hastings 0: Noah Williams scored two goals to lead the Class 2A, No 13 Bears past the host Raiders. Jackson Rush and Carter Ehlers also scored for the Bears.

Eastview 3, Henry Sibley 0: Sean Kennedy scored two goals to the lead the Class 2A, No. 10 Lightning past the visiting Warriors. Jack Landwer scored a goal and Elliot Brown stopped three shots for the Lightning.
