John Nienstedt, archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis, is planning a trip to Rome in March to meet with Pope Benedict.
Bishop Lee Piche will also travel with the archbishop to the Vatican. The trip is scheduled for March 4-11, according to the Catholic Spirit, the archdiocese newspaper.
"The local prelates will be there ... with bishops from nine other dioceses comprising Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota as part of their 'ad limina' visit, which bishops from around the world are required to make approximately every five years," the Catholic Spirit reports. "The visits combine prayer and liturgy with more business-oriented meetings with officials of key Vatican agencies."
