Nichelle Nichols, Lieutenant Uhura in the "Star Trek" TV show and movies, has suffered a mild stroke.

The word that Nichols, aged 82, suffered the stroke came Thursday on her official Facebook page.

"Last night while at her home in L.A., Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke," said Zach McGinnis of Galactic Productions, who represents Nichols. "She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts."

Nichols appeared in the original "Star Trek" TV series, which ran from 1966-1969, and reprised her role in six "Star Trek" films. She also played Nana Dawson in the TV series "Heroes" and voiced characters in the "Gargoyles" and "Spider-Man" TV shows.
