NHL Stadium Series takes over TCF Bank Stadium for outdoor hockey

The transformation from football field to ice rink started on Tuesday at TCF Bank Stadium in preparation of the upcoming NHL Stadium Series outdoor game on Feb. 21.

The NHL Stadium Series staff took over TCF Bank Stadium on Tuesday to begin the process of transforming the football field into a hockey rink.

The process will take about a week and bring outdoor hockey to the University of Minnesota campus for the second time in three years, this time featuring the Wild and Chicago Blackhawks.

The Wild hosts the Blackhawks in the NHL Stadium Series game on Feb. 21 at 2:30 p.m. An alumni game featuring former stars from these two franchises will be played Feb. 20 at 4 p.m.

The men responsible for building a safe and beautiful playing surface for these events met with the media on Tuesday at TCF Bank Stadium. Watch what they had to say and catch of glimpse of the first steps in the transformation.
