'New York Blue,' but Twin Cities-inspired

Rob Thomas credits the Jawhawks for a new tune he performed in St. Paul Sunday.

Before a large crowd at Xcel Energy Center Sunday night, Rob Thomas performed an unreleased song called "Sunday Morning New York Blue," a cool acoustic number that he described as a favorite but that didn't make the cut for his new album.

Afterward, he said something to the effect of: "Thank you, Twin Cities. Because without the Twin Cities, there wouldn't be Minneapolis. And without Minneapolis, there wouldn't be the Jayhawks. And without the Jayhawks, there wouldn't have been [the inspiration for] that song. ... I don't know what you do here, must be something in the water."
