GOP's Emmer and Dems running close, with Horner trailing

A new poll shows that the Minnesota governor's race, at this early stage, is pretty much knotted in a de facto tie.

The poll, by Rasmussen Reports, shows Republican endorsee Tom Emmer being supported by 37 or 38 percent by likely voters. His three Democratic rivals (Mark Dayton, Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Matt Entenza) have the support of between 34 percent and 36 percent.

Given the fact that the poll of 500 likely voters has a margin of sampling error of 4.5 percentage points, that's a wash.

Independence Party endorsee Tom Horner got roughly one-tenth of the backing of those polled.

The poll results are generally in line with other recent statewide surveys.
