New parks on the horizon

Upper Mississippi Waterfront Parks

The former Scherer Bros. Lumber site and other former industrial areas in north and northeast Minneapolis are being restored to offer the public a more natural shoreline and water recreation opportunities.

Blakeley Bluffs

Scott County will showcase its scenic Minnesota River Valley bluff lands in a future park that will offer land and water-based recreation.

Whitetail Woods Regional Park

In September, Dakota County will open a 456-acre park featuring winter and summer trails, disc golf, day use facilities and camping cabins.

Lake Vermilion State Park

Minnesota's newest state park is still under development, but it will ultimately offer camping, boating, hiking and other recreation ­opportunities.
