New number two at Playwrights' Center

New leadership team set at Minneapolis play-developing hub

Abby Marcus, 34, who has been managing director of The Dramatists Guild of America, is joining the Playwrights' Center as general manager, a newly created position. She starts Nov. 29 in the administrative leadership job where she will oversee finance, human resources and general operations.

The appointment of Marcus, who has extensive small-theater experience in New York, completes the leadership team at the center. Jeremy Cohen became producing artistic director there in the fall while development director Erika Eklund, 37, was promoted to director of external affairs. Like New Dramatists in New York and the Actors Theatre of Louisville, the center provides helps playwrights develop work by offering fellowships, residencies and workshops.The center has 13 employees, including 10 fulltime, and operates on a $1.2 million budget.
