Motorists who use I-35 in Lakeville will encounter a lane closure this week as crews begin work on a resurfacing project.

The right lane of I-35 in both directions will be closed Monday through Wednesday between the I-35E/I-35W split down to County Road 50.

The lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. each night until 3 p.m. the next day, MnDOT officials said.

This is in addition to the work zone on I-35E from County Road 42 up to Diffley Road.

In St. Paul, motorists should be prepared for a traffic shift sometime this week in the vicinity of the Cayugs Bridge, MnDOT said. An overnight lane closure will take place before the traffic switch takes affect.

I-35E from University Avenue to Maryland Avenue is being reconstructed. The major highlights are replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
