The Northwest Islamic Community Center plans to hold an interfaith gathering and celebration on Saturday to mark the grand opening of its new location in Plymouth.

The event features a "Get to Know Your Muslim Neighbors" presentation and will also include a 5K run, scavenger hunt, face painting, henna art and bazaar.

Residents of Plymouth and surrounding cities, Muslim community leaders and interfaith groups are expected to attend, according to a released statement from the Islamic center.

The new center — which was the city's former post office building in downtown Plymouth — was purchased and remodeled for worship and assembly use to accommodate the area's growing Muslim community.
