New England Snow Map

January 19, 2010 at 1:25PM

Snow will spread across upstate New York through New England today and tonightas a storm drops southward from Canada. The accumulating snow will be confinedto New England and the Canadian Maritime provinces. The heaviest, 6-10 inches, will thump northeastern Maine, covering Bangor.

Caribou, Maine, along with most of the cities and towns in Maine will end upwith 3-6 inches of snow. The area from Burlington, Vt., to Portland, Maine, will get 1-3 inches of snow.

Colder and brisk weather will follow this system into the Northeast throughtonight, ending the stretch of very mild January weather. However, it will notbe a bitterly cold blast.

The return of cold weather will set the stage for a possible winter storm inthe mid-Atlantic later this week. More on this to follow. Right now, we feelPennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey have the best shot at gettingaccumulating snow from this system.
