NEW EDINA STREET ASSESSMENT POLICY

• Residents will still pay 100 percent of street reconstruction costs, but sidewalks, trails and lighting costs that had been included in those projects will now be paid by the city through franchise fees charged to utilities.

• Residents will have 15 years, instead of 10, to pay for street assessments on their property taxes.

• Payments will be the same each year.

• Interest on special assessments paid through property taxes will drop from 2 percent to 1 percent.
