New Crippling Blizzard Looms

Yet another blizzard will bear down on the Plains this weekend. Thesnowstorm will not batter the flood-ravaged northern Plains. The centralPlains, including Denver, will instead bear the brunt of the blizzard.The fierce storm will be fueled by two distinctly different air masses and astrong jet stream. These three ingredients will all come together over thePlains today. However, not until early Saturday will the intense blizzard takeshape.

Snow will begin falling over the central High Plains tonight. Conditionswill deteriorate early Saturday as winds turn strong. Howling winds willseverely blow and drift the snow. Travel will become nearly impossible.

Officials will likely be forced to close interstates 25, 70, 76 and 80.

Cancellations are almost certain at airports.

The dangerous blizzard conditions will spread eastward into southeasternSouth Dakota and central Nebraska Saturday night.
