He proved he can still bring the noise with his old band earlier this year, and now Chris Cornell will show off what he can do in a quieter setting. The Soundgarden frontman will stop in at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium in St. Paul on Oct. 30 as part of a solo-acoustic tour with intriguing Sri Lankan-rooted artist Bhi Bhiman. Tickets ($40-$46) go on sale Aug. 16 at noon via . The press release for the tour promises songs from last year's Soundgarden album, "King Animal," and it at least makes reference to Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

*Basilica Block Party alum Amos Lee at the State Theatre on Aug. 9 with gifted Texan Kat Edmonson opening (on sale Friday at 10 a.m., $40-$50, Ticketmaster.com or the State's box office).
*Leo Kottke's annual post-Thanksgiving gig will be at the Guthrie Theater's Wurtele Thrust Stage on Nov. 25 (on sale Friday at 11 a.m. for $39-$44, 612-377-2224 or GuthrieTheater.org).
*Fresh from the '90s-flavored Skyline Music Fest concert at Target Field, Soul Asylum is pairing up some hipper favorites from that era, Fountains of Wayne and the Lemonheads' Evan Dando, at First Avenue on Oct. 19 (on sale now, $30, First-Avenue.com). Interestingly, Soul Asylum toured with the Lemonheads on the "Grave Dancers Union" tour in 1992, and I pretty vividly recall the Minneapolitan rockers singing, "It's a shame we're so lame," in tribute to their openers at the show in Austin, Texas.
*More '90s music, but with a new twist: Mike Doughty will perform songs by his old group Soul Coughing with a new band at First Ave on Oct. 25 (on sale now, $25). Doughty's new album will feature new interpretations of those tunes. Soul Coughing, by the way, counted the Twin Cities as its No. 1 market.
