Oh, boy, the short feisty mouthy Bink and her best friend, the tall serious and lofty-minded Gollie, are coming back to make us laugh again this summer.

"Bink and Gollie: Two For One," by Minneapolis writers Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee will be published by Candlewick Press in June. The illustrations will, once again, be by Tony Fucile.

The original "Bink and Gollie," published in 2010, won the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. In their latest adventures, Bink and Gollie go to the State Fair and try to win the world's largest doughnut ("nature's most perfect food"); enter a talent contest, and have their fortunes told.

DiCamillo is the Newbery Award winning author of "Because of Winn-Dixie," "The Tale of Despereaux," and the Mercy Watson series. McGhee is a writing teacher and the author of many books for children and adults. And together--well, they're dynamite.

You can read a Strib interview with them here, where they talk about how they came to write the first book about the two friends.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
