New bike rental and consignment clothing store opens in Stillwater

Bicyclists who need to rent a set of wheels can do so at a new Stillwater consignment store that also sells leather jackets, skirts, pants, chaps, belts and hats.

Janna Murray opened Janna's Hides & Rides Consignment Leather Clothing & Bicycle Rental on Monday at 218 N. Main St. She will rent one- and three-speed "beach cruiser" bicycles for $15 for two hours, $25 for four hours and $35 for eight hours. She has four bicycles available on a walk-in basis, but hopes to expand the fleet once the new Browns Creek Trail opens on the former line of the Minnesota Zypher dinner train.

Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. For more information, call 651-472-9218.

Andersen Windows featured in exhibitAn A-Series casement window made by Andersen Windows is featured in an exhibit that recently opened at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

The casement window -- which comes in a variety of colors and allows homebuilders to match nearly any architectural style -- is on display in "House & Home," an exhibit that showcases the history of the American home and the past 400 years of homebuilding technology.

It was selected for the exhibit to show an example of the latest in window technology, a company spokesman said.

Nonprofit seeks help to win orchardDream of Wild Health is one of 100 organizations in the running to win a fruit orchard through Edy's Communities Take Root contest.

The nonprofit has land to plant apples, pears, chokecherries and elderberries, but it needs money to buy trees and shrubs.

Dream of Wild Health would get the cash if it receives enough votes through an online contest at www.communitiestakeroot.com/plant.

Edy's will award orchards to the 17 organizations that receive the most votes by Aug. 30.

Beauty store gets new looksULTA, the store that promotes itself as a beauty destination, is looking a bit more stylish now that new melon awnings and signage have been hung outside and new fixtures have been installed inside.

To celebrate its recent makeover and its remodeled salon, the store at 8290 Tamarack Village will celebrate with a reopening Friday through Sunday.

ULTA has been updating many of its stores, including recent upgrades at its stores in Riverdale Village in Coon Rapids and the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove. Those stores also will hold reopening celebrations starting Friday.
