Despite Thursday being the first full day of autumn, summer will not go down without a fight across the Ohio Valley.

A strong, southwesterly flow of air will allow afternoon temperatures to climb into the lower 90s across the Ohio Valley Thursday afternoon. New record-high temperatures for the date will likely be set in some cities.

Temperatures will continue to average well above normal across the region into Friday, before slightly cooler weather arrives for the weekend.
