Fashion statements

Cable news takes a break from wall-to-wall coverage of Donald Trump to give us a report on the "Fresh Dressed," the movers and shakers who helped shape fashion trends over the past 40 years ago. Pharrell Williams, Jeff Tweedy and Russell Simmons are among those waxing poetic about fat-laced sneakers and Cazal sunglasses. 8 p.m. CNN

Walking on a wire

Howie Mandel may be petrified of germs, but he's got no problem hosting a live edition of "Impractical Jokers" featuring a high-wire walk five stories above New York City sidewalks. The "jokers" are encouraged to refrain from using any joy buzzers during the stunt. 9 p.m. TruTV

Can we talk?

"Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work" goes beyond spotlighting the late legend to show just how much blood, sweat and tears go into what appears to be an effortless act. The 2010 documentary just may be the finest ever made about creating stand-up comedy. 10 p.m. TPT, Ch. 2
